It was a day in the spring of 2019 that my husband, Michael, and I were in Whole Foods Market where it happened. Michael often does the grocery shopping - something he inherited from his father, Milt. Milt liked to get up early to hit the markets and on the way, smoke cigarettes. Michael, on the other hand, likes to work out at the gym, and then visits his favorite market, Whole Foods. It is a rare occasion when I accompany him to his organic oasis. This day, Michael was checking out at the cashier while I was hanging back letting my mind wander. Suddenly, a woman was upon me. I mean really upon me - she was in my face. Our eyes locked. She said, “you don’t need to worry, you will get what you want.” She then asked me,” do you believe in God?” and I directly answered, “yes.” She continued, “do you receive God?” I felt a stirring inside me and emphatically answered, “Yes, yes.” I looked in front of me to see if Michael noticed what was happening, but he was moving with the cart out of the aisle. I turned to see the woman - she vanished.
I instantaneously felt renewed. I had this urge to read scripture and return to a place of worship. I started donating to Church even though we were on a tight budget. Soon after this “encounter” at Whole Foods, our financial situation improved immensely - out of the blue opportunities arose. Since that day I returned to a spiritual path with God. Was that woman an angel? Was she an empath who picked up on my lost hope?
If that incident wasn’t enough, you can imagine how I felt recently when again I visited Whole Foods with Michael. It is four years later and I only visit the market on occasion - some things never change. Michael was in the meat department making sure they still had the grass-fed ground meat while I was in produce picking some nice russets. A store clerk was adding more of them to the counter as I made sure not to get in his way. Another man approached the area and he moved close to me. He had a powerful gaze that looked through me. Normally, I would have averted my eyes and continue what I was doing. Instead, I stayed present with him in this neat, slow time capsule. He said, “I see you are with the Spirit. I want to give you something.” He reached inside his jacket and pulled out what looked to be a laminated business card. It was a pressed rose with an inscription that read, “This Rose Petal was Blessed by Jesus and Mary at Our Lady of the Roses Shrine at Bayside, New York for cures and conversions.” He said, “keep this with you and pray for the days that are coming.” He then walked away. The store clerk stopped what he was doing and looked at me. I was sure he was going to say something like “that was weird or that guy does this all the time, he’s nuts.” Instead he said, “something big is coming,” I couldn’t believe what he just said as I placed my potatoes in the plastic bag and fastened it with the green twist tie. I don’t know what it was but something came over me. I said in a calm, peaceful tone, “I know, I feel it too, we will be on the right side.” He leaned into me a bit and said, “don’t be afraid, go on each day, pay attention to your life, your family, and your friends, don’t dwell on what is coming.” I nodded and moved on.
I caught up to Michael by the meat counter. I told him that it had happened again. I repeated what had transpired and reminded him of the woman years ago as well. Then in Michael’s classic fashion, he said, “maybe you should think about working here.”

We go through life not paying attention to what is happening around us. We explain everything away as coincidence or being random. Then when we start actually listening, we realize God has been communicating to us the whole time.
I witnessed both of these encounters. They validate my belief in God.
